About this Club

PES Model United Nations (MUN) society brings together students interested in participating in various MUN conferences held across the country. It has the reputation of being the most prestigious MUN Society in the southern circuit and possess an incredible record in the conferences attended. The People’s Conference (PeCON) is an annual MUN conference organized by the Model United Nations Society, PES University (RR). Through the concept of Model United Nations, we aim at helping young delegates across various educational spectra develop their reasoning and analytical skills by simulating a variety of situations and giving them the opportunity to debate issues of international importance. At the People's Conference, we hand-pick the best judges from across India to ensure that the debate at our Conference is unparalleled. Our goal is to help delegates become a better version of their professional selves through our Conference. Students of any year, branch, department can apply and be a part of the MUN Society. Recruitment is done periodically by conducting three rounds of screening including a written form, a group discussion and a personal interview. There are 43 members in the MUN Society from 6 different departments of the University. The PES Model UN Society was founded in the year 2013, and they have since established themselves as one of the most formidable and accomplished delegations across the country, having won 15 Best Delegation awards in their short existence, 12 of them in a row. The year 2015 ushered in the first edition of The People’s Conference, and ever since its first edition, the Conference has grown into one of South India’s most prestigious Model United Nations Conferences. The year 2020 has seen the PES MUN Society turn over a new leaf with the aim of inculcating policy making abilities and report writing skills, along with the analysis of important international documents, events and incidents. ‘For The Record’ (FTR), a PES MUN Soc editorial, is an initiative that allows capable members of the club to voice their opinions in a structured and organized manner, under the mentorship of experienced Seniors, on the blog site with well-designed templates on the Instagram page.
